The Apocalypse appears to many laypeople to be a profound mystery, prompting them to dismiss or overlook it. The purpose of this writing is to explore ancient texts in search of meaning. Meaning of ancient texts that laypeople can understand. In this work, the writer aims to guide the reader through a review of the meaning of several ancient texts that unravel the mystery of the main text, the Apocalypse itself. We will journey through time and explore the people and the places where ancient texts were inspired, written, and preserved for us. We will encounter Emperor-kings as they waged war against those who defended their lands and cities. We will encounter ancient peoples who experienced massive disruptions in their lives, yet they survived and wrote about their plight, while ancient historians recorded those disruptive events.
We will read of a cosmic battle between good and evil, in which heavenly angelic beings declare judgments while dragons and beasts sneer back in violent rage. We will read and sympathize with the cries for vindication by ancient people caught up in this epic conflict. We will celebrate the victory won for them and the rewards they received for enduring to the bitter end.
Let us journey together!
